Retirement has a detrimental impact on mental and physical health, a new study has found. The study, published by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), a think tank, found that retirement results in a "drastic decline in health" in the medium and long term.
一份新研究發現,退休對身心健康有不利衝擊。這份由智庫「經濟事務研究所」(IEA)發布的研究發現,退休導致中長期「健康劇烈下滑」。

The IEA said the study suggests people should work for longer for health as well as economic reasons.
經濟事務研究所說,這份研究顯示,人們應該為了健康與經濟理由工作較長時間。

The study compared retired people with those who had continued working past retirement age, and took into account possible confounding factors. The study suggests there is a small boost to health immediately after retirement, before a significant decline in the longer term.
這份研究將退休者與過了退休年齡仍繼續工作的人相比,並考量可能的干擾因素。研究顯示,退休後健康隨即小幅提升,但較長期會明顯下滑。

Retirement is found to increase the chances of suffering from clinical depression by 40%, while you are 60% more likely to suffer from a physical condition.
