A freight train collided with a passenger train near Moscow on Tuesday, ripping the side off one of the carriages and killing at least six people.

一列貨車週二在鄰近莫斯科的地方和一列客車相撞,將其中一截客車車廂撕裂,造成至少6人死亡。

Russian officials said the death toll could rise after several carriages were derailed.

Russian television footage showed passengers clambering off the tilting train and climbing up a grassy bank to safety after the accident.

The train had been on its way from Moscow to Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, before the collision at around 1230 p.m. near the town of Naro-Fominsk, 55 km southwest of the Russian capital.

在中午12時30分左右衝撞發生前,這列火車正在自莫斯科開往摩爾多瓦的首都基西納烏的途中,意外發生在俄羅斯首都(莫斯科)西南方55公里處,靠近納羅-福明斯克鎮。

The cause of the accident was not immediately known but a criminal investigation has been opened.

意外發生原因無法立即查明,但已展開刑事調查。

"We tried to use an emergency brake. We couldn’t see anything ahead, there was lots of dust. Visibility was zero," RIA news agency quoted one of the drivers of the passenger train as saying.

「我們試圖使用緊急煞車,我們根本看不到前面,有太多灰塵了,能見度是零。」RIA通訊社引述其中一名客車司機的談話。

An official from state-owned Russian Railways told reporters at the scene that five people had been killed immediately and a sixth had later died in hospital.(Reuters)
