日常生活中，有些人喜歡用「米糕」或「碗糕」來表示對不了解的東西的驚訝與困惑，你可以說：What in God’s name is this?「 in God’s name」 強調「到底…」。此外也可說：What the heck is this? heck 在口語上是hell（地獄）的意思，因此這句話也常被說成：What the hell is this?應盡量少用。

A：Whoa, what in God’s name is this?

B：This is from my newest recipe--pizza with oolong noodles and Korean glutinous rice cake.

A：哇勒…，這是什麼碗糕啊？

B：這是我最新的食譜︰披薩加烏龍麵加韓式年糕。
